Andrew J. Corbin, formerly a resident of Manning, died very suddenly at his home at Ames, Iowa, on Thursday, July 9. He was only sick a few hours, being stricken dawn Wednesday noon with a stroke of paralysis and died Thursday morning at 3:30.

Mr. Corbin was a good, kind man. He served his country for three years in Company C, 37th Illinois infantry. Some ten years ago they moved to Manning from Shelby County. Mrs. Corbin died May 30, 1903, and was laid to rest in the Manning Cemetery. Mr. Corbin was born in West Virginia May 12, 1841, and was married to Mary Baldwin in 1858 and came to Shelby County in 1868.

The remains were brought to Manning and the funeral was held at the Methodist church, Rev. R.E. Harvey officiating, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Manning Cemetery beside his wife. The pallbearers were members of the Grand Army at this place.
