Emil Flenker
Emil Flenker was born March 12, 1886, in Washington Township, Carroll County, Iowa; son of Claus Henry and Anna (Lewis) Flenker. His parents had emigrated from Germany in 1870. The family name at that time was Flenkery, but the "y" was dropped.

Emil did not marry. He moved from Iowa to the Kansas City, Kansas, area and lived with his brother Gustav "Gus" August Flenker and family most of his life, or with his married nieces or nephews.

Emil served his country as a Private in the United States Marine Corps during World War I.

Emil passed away January 6, 1963, in Kansas at the age of 76 years.

He was laid to rest in Ft. Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth County, Kansas.

Emil Flenker, 76, a resident of Leavenworth, Kansas, the past 10 months died Sunday night, January 6, 1963, at the Pine Street Nursing Home.

Born March 12, 1886, in Carroll County, Iowa, he was a son of Claus and Ann (Lewis) Flenker.

A Veteran of World War I, he served as a private in the Marine Corps.

Mr. Flenker is survived by a niece, Mrs. Frank Mance, Kansas City, Kansas.

Time of service will be announced by the Larkin Funeral Home.

Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas.

EMIL FLENKER
Emil Flenker, 70, Leavenworth, Kansas, formerly of Kansas City, Kansas, died Sunday night, January 6, 1963, at a nursing home in Leavenworth. He was born in Carroll County, Iowa, and lived in Kansas City, Kansas, 35 years before he moved to Leavenworth 10 months ago.

He was a retired laborer and a Marine Corps Veteran of World War I.

Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Annie Funk, Newton, Kansas; and a brother, Henry Flenker, North Dakota. Services will be held at 1:15 o'clock Wednesday at the Larkin Chapel, Leavenworth; burial in the National Cemetery, Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas.

Friends may call after 4 o'clock today at the chapel.
