Earl moved to Shelby County with his parents as a small boy. Later he entered the Army during WWI and served most of his military life in France.
He served in the Army from July 26, 1918 to July 5, 1919

Earl S. Weems and Mabel A. Crouch were united in marriage on November 5, 1919.
They farmed South of Botna until 1946 when they moved to Manning, Ia. They both worked at various jobs in Manning. Earl passed away at Des Moines, Ia. on April 25,1958.
Mabel A. Weems (1900 - 1993)

Brothers of Earl were Ralph, Homer, Charles, Burl, Eldon and Newton.
Earl and Mabel were the parents of six children, Eldis "Bud" Weems (deceased), Evelyn Borkowski (deceased), Leona Hemminger of Elk Horn, Lois Wegner of Manning, Opal Christensen of Humbolt and LaRae Heller of Carroll.

Ancel E. Crouch was also a Great Uncle.
He was the son of Frank and Nettie Crouch born on Nov. 18,1912 and died July 20,1980. He is survived by his wife Bernice of Irwin, IA. and a brother Virgil also of Irwin.
Is buried in Irwin.


EARL S. WEEMS
Earl S. Weems was born April 2, 1896, near Jefferson, Iowa to Charles and Rosa Millet Weems. Earl passed away Friday April 25, 1958 at the V.A. hospital in Des Moines.

He moved to Shelby County with his parents as a small boy. Later he entered the Army during WWI and served most of his military life in France.

November 5, 1919, he was united in marriage to Mabel Crouch at Harlan, Iowa. To this union one son Eldis (Norma) of Manning and five daughters Evelyn (Mrs. Harold) Borkowski of Botna, Leona (Mrs. Lewis) Hemminger of Elk Horn, Lois (Mrs. George) Wegner of Manning, Opal (Mrs. Dale) Christensen of Humbolt and LaRae (Mrs. Warren) Sniff of Harlan were born.

Earl and Mabel spent all but their first year of married life on a farm near Irwin, Iowa until December 1946 when they retired and moved to Manning.

Mr. Weems is survived by his wife and 6 children, 20 grandchildren, 4 brothers Burl, Homer, and Eldon of Botna, and Newton of Iola, Kansas.

Earl's parents and one brother Ralph preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist church in Manning, Monday April 28 with Rev. Lester Moore in charge.

Pallbearers and military honors were by ceremonial squads of American Legion Post 22 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post no 3517 of Manning. Burial was in the Manning Cemetery.


Earl Weems is buried in the Manning Cemetery.
