They have 2 children; Paul (MHS 1965) and Christine MHS (1974).

Clarence took his basic training in Long Beach, California in 1941 and served until 1945.

Clarence Edmunds
Clarence Orivel, son of Bernie Charles and Flossie Wallace Haddox Edmunds, was born May 2, 1917, at Bassett, California. Clarence grew up in Los Angeles, graduating from Belmont High School. He then did some mechanic work before entering the service on April 21, 1941. During World War 11, Clarence served in China with the Army Air Corps, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.

On August 6, 1943, Clarence was united in marriage with Ruby Mae Struve in Los Angeles. Two children were born to this union.

After being honorably discharged on November 5, 1945, Clarence returned to Los Angeles and worked for the U.S. Post Office. After one year he went to work as a mechanic for Los Angeles Motor Coach and then General Motors before moving to Manning, Iowa in 1952. While in Manning he worked for Clarence Grundmeier in the hatchery and at Ralph Grundmeier's service station. He then worked for Struve Motors for one year before running his own business, Ed's Service, until his retirement in 1983.

Clarence was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening and was especially fond of spending time with his family.

Clarence entered Manning Plaza Nursing Home in March of 1998 and died there on Wednesday, January 24, 2001, at 83 years, 8 months and 22 days of age.

Besides his parents, Clarence was preceded in death by a sister Gwendolyn Edmunds and a brother Stewart B. Edmunds.

He is survived by his wife Ruby Edmunds of Manning; a son Paul S. Edmunds and his wife Cindy, a daughter Christine M. Edmunds, one grandson Dean A. Edmunds and his wife Cindy, a great-grandson Zachary Edmunds, and a step-granddaughter Megan Schneider, all of Omaha, NE; a sister Mazella Niles of Phoenix, AZ; a sister-in-law Johanna Edmunds of Roseburg, OR; and by nieces. nephews, other relatives and friends.
