Funeral services were held Monday for Frank Wulf, for many years a resident of this community, who passed away Friday following a long illness.

Private Frank Wulf, United States Army, was born June 2, 1894, in Audubon County, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Wulf. Later the family moved to Manning. Mr. Wulf received his early education in the public schools of Audubon County and in Manning.

He entered the army in 1917 and served in France a brief period before the Armistice was signed, with the 1st battalion, 60th infantry and 5th division.

On February 18, 1925, he was united in marriage to Miss Lena C. Lamp of Westside. The couple then established their home on a farm about ten miles north of Manning. Five children were born to this union.

Mr.Wulf entered the Veteran's Hospital in Des Moines for treatment on two occasions. Recently he was transferred to the Heinz hospital in Chicago, where he passed away on February 4th, 1938, at the age of 43 years, 8 months and 2 days.

Besides his widow, he leaves to mourn his passing, his five children, Mary Ellen, Warren, Allen, Winston and Charles; four brothers, Henry of Omaha, John of Remsen, Edward of Le Mars, and Charles of Remsen; three sisters, Mrs. Chris Bartels of Manning, Mrs. Emil Stuhr of Hayfield, Minnesota, and Mrs. Gus Paape of Waltham, Minnesota.

Military funeral services were held on Monday afternoon from the Ohde Funeral Home with the Rev. George E. Steele in charge. Members of Emil Ewoldt Post, American Legion, acted as pall bearers and accorded military honors. Interment was made in the Manning Cemetery.


Frank Wulf is buried in the Manning Cemetery.
