Harvey W. Freese
Harvey W. Freese, 63, died at his home in Manning on Monday, September 15. He was a retired cafe operator.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning with the Rev. Randy Ross, minister of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Connie Siepker will be organist and Judy Joens vocalist. Burial, with military honors, will be in Wheatland cemetery near Breda. Serving as casketbearers will be nephews: Leonard Freese, Jr.; Dennis Lamaak, Tim Wollesen, Ralph Freese, Jr.; Darrell Freese and Harold Freese.

Mr. Freese is survived by his wife, Clara, Manning; three children: Mrs. Kenneth (Cyla) Schrum, Catoosa, Oklahoma; LaRay Freese and his wife, Polly, Sand Springs, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Danny (Nylene) Thielen, rural Audubon; eight grandchildren and eight brothers and sisters: Virgil Freese, Early; Delores Artlett, Wall Lake; Leonard Freese, Manilla; Kate Lamaak, Wall Lake; Ralph Freese, Wall Lake; Grace Wollesen, Wall Lake; Robert Freese, Lake View; Pearl Kelly, California, and a sister-in-law, Darlene Freese, Ida Grove.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Lester; three siblings in infancy; a nephew and a niece.

Mr. Freese was born near Breda on April 8, 1923, a son of Ralph and Grace Fischer Freese. He attended rural schools and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

On December 31, 1947, he was married to Clara Smidt. They lived in Lake View, Kiron and Wall Lake and for the past 27 years in Manning. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and the Presbyterian Church.
