At this point in time I have NO military pictures or information about Gary's service, other than what is in his obituary below.

Gary Eischeid

Gary Fred, son of Hilbert " Hib " and Agnes (Steinkamp) Eischeid, was born October 15, 1947 at Carroll, Iowa. He grew up on a farm north of Manning and attended Manning schools. Gary enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as an aircraft mechanic in Thailand during the Vietnam Era, performing maintenance on crew assigned B-52s. After his honorable discharge, Gary returned to Iowa.

On August 12, 1967, Gary was united in marriage with Marie Kasparbauer at Sacred Heart Church in Templeton. They lived on farms north of Manning and were the parents of two sons. Gary farmed all his life, and later when he cut back on farming he became a welder for the Union Pacific Railroad. Gary took great pride in his farm, meticulously landscaping and caring for his yard and pond. He enjoyed checking out the countryside and visiting with his many friends in the area. Above all he cherished his sons and their families.

Gary was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Manning, American Legion Post in Arcadia and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Manning.

He was diagnosed with sarcoma in July of 2008 however he continued to work through harvest in the fall of 2009. He entered St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll in mid-December and passed away there on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at the age of 62 years, 2 months and 16 days.
