Glen Lage in Africa Glen Lage In Britain Pvt. Glen J. Lage, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Lage of Manning, who has been training at Camp Barkeley, Texas, cabled his parents recently, on his arrival in Great Britain. Glen Lage In Sicily Pfc. Glen J. Lage, who has been over seas since July 8, last year, and in Africa since November, is now in Sicily according to word received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Lage. Memorial Services for Glen Lage of Fort Dodge, Iowa, were held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Reverend John Fuchs officiated. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors conducted by the VFW Post #1856. Visitation was held at Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.
Glen J. Lage was born October 12, 1909, in rural Manning, Iowa, and graduated from high school in 1930. In March of 1942, Glen entered the United States Army and served in Africa, and in Sicily, Italy, during WWII. He was discharged in October 1945 as a Sergeant. On May 30, 1948, he married Maxine Brattmiller at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. After their marriage the couple made their home in Fort Dodge where Glen worked as a Mainman for Iowa Illinois Gas and Electric for 25 years, retiring in 1975. Glen and Maxine have enjoyed traveling throughout the United States especially to the East and Southwest. Glen enjoyed gardening and loved his grandkids.
He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church where he served as an usher, and held several church offices. He also served on the board of trustees and financial secretary. He was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Fort Dodge.
Glen died Wednesday, January 5, 2005, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge. He was 95 years of age.
He was preceded in death by a son, Paul Lage; his parents, Jacob and Emma (Witt) Lage; and a sister, Inza Roosa.
Glen is survived by his wife, Maxine; son Dan Lage and his wife Mary of Fort Dodge; five grandchildren, Jacob Lage and his wife Tracy of Waterloo, Iowa; Emily Lage of Phoenix, Arizona; Ashley Lage of Ames, Iowa; Ashlee Duffy and Justin Duffy both of Cedar Falls, Iowa; two sisters, Hazel Ehlers of Manning, Iowa, and Ruth Schroeder of Denison, Iowa.

Glen Lage, age 95, of Fort Dodge, died Wednesday, January 5, 2005, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.
