MILITARY HONORS Hermann, son of Claus and Margaretha Dammann, was born September 8, 1891, in Warren Township, Carroll County, Iowa. He attended the rural schools. During World War 1 Hermann served in the Sixty-fifth Regiment of the Coast Artillery
Corps of the United States Army, serving in France during 1918.
Throughout their lives the couple farmed in Audubon County, retiring and moving to Manning in 1947. Pauline passed away on February 24, 1981. In March Hermann entered the Manning Plaza. He had been in failing health for about a month and died, there on August 26, 1981, at the age of 89 years, 11 months and 18 days. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, by six brothers, Claus Frederick, John, George, Henry, Bill & Harry; also by two sisters, Emma Hershman and Annie Langbehn. He is survived by two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Louise Rudnick of Wall Lake and Mrs. Laura Rudnick of Audubon; as well as by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. |
