HENRY KRUSE
Military funeral rites for Henry Kruse, 77, of Manning were held on Saturday morning, July 3, at 10:00 at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, with Pastor Edward F. Heinicke officiating. Burial was in the Manning Cemetery, with the Ohde Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Kruse, son of Henry and Magdalene (Lempster) Kruse, was born March 21, 1894, in Hayes Township, Crawford County. As a boy, he moved with his family to South Dakota, where he attended school. He served overseas in World War I.

He came to work on farms in the Westside area after his discharge from service, and was married on February 18, 1920, at Denison to Helma Strathman. They farmed near Westside and Manning until 1959, when they moved to Manning. They observed their golden wedding in 1970.

Mr. Kruse was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the American Legion and VFW posts of Manning.

He died suddenly at his home in Manning on Wednesday morning, June 30, 1971. He was preceded by his parents, two sisters, Mrs. Ray (Laura) Wooster; Mrs. George (Lena) Carstens; a brother, Herman and a half-brother Ed Hagedorn.

He is survived by his wife and three daughters: Mrs. Orville (Vergene) Kroeger, Westside; Mrs. Robert (Neva) Hinners, and Mrs. Leland (Genelle) Kienast, Manning; 7 grandchildren; a brother, William J. Kruse, Manning; a sister, Mrs. Harold (Amanda) Gustafson, Chicago, Illinois; a half-sister, Mrs. Gus (Edna) Frahm, Thief River Falls, Minnesota, and a half-brother, Lester Hagedorn, Des Moines.

CARD OF THANKS
We wish to thank everyone for the flowers, cards, food, and memorial bequests given to us at the time of the loss of our loved one. Thank you to Pastor Allman and Pastor Heinicke for their comforting words; also to the Legion and VFW for the military honors, and to the ladies of the Dorcas Society and the Evening Circle for preparing and serving the luncheon, and the ladies who helped at the house. These kindnesses will never be forgotten.
