HERBERT "BERT" STRIBE
Funeral services for Herbert "Bert" Stribe were held Monday, May 19, 1980, at First Presbyterian Church in Manning at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Joel Wright officiating, The Rev. Carl Sinning was organist, Mrs. Judy Joens was vocalist. Interment was in the Manning Cemetery with Earl Stribe, Robert Hagge. George Schroeder, Allen Hunter, Orlo Nissen and Richard Stoffers as casketbearers. The Ohde Funeral Home in Manning was in charge of arrangements.


Herbert Roy, son of George and Alvina Ohrt Stribe, was born July 23, 1896 in Washington Township, Carroll County, Iowa. He attended the rural school near his home and the school in Manning. He served his country during World War I and following his discharge, farmed with his father on the home place. He was united in marriage with Regilda Stoffers on February 24, 1931. They continued to farm on the home place until retiring to Manning in 1952.

Bert was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Manning and served that congregation as an elder and trustee for many years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 22 of Manning, served on the Washington Twp. school board and on the Washington Twp. election board. He also served on the board of review for Carroll County.

Bert has been in ill health for the past months and died at the Manning Plaza on Friday, May 16, 1980, at the age of 83 years, 9 months and 23 days.

He was preceded in death by one son, Lon, by his parents, by two brothers. Frank and Charles Stribe, and by two sisters, Mae, Mrs. Peter H. Schroeder, and Clara, Mrs. Nick Konrady.

He is survived by his wife, Regilda, and by two sons, Dean and his wife, Marjorie, and Lowell and his wife Lois, all of Manning; by five grandchildren, Curtis and his wife, Caryl, Keith and his wife Mary Jane, Allen and his wife Carlys, Sue Ann and Lisa; by two great grandchildren, Nolan and Sara Stribe; by one sister, Mrs. Jessie Nissen, and by a sister-in-law, Mrs. Alvina Stribe, as well as by many other relatives and friends.


Herbert Stribe is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
