Herman Borkowski

Funeral services for Herman Borkowski, who died at the Knoxville Hospital last Friday, were held from Trinity Lutheran Church, Lincoln Township, Tuesday afternoon, February 3rd. Herman Albert Borkowski was born in Pomerania, Germany, on the 21st day of December 1887. In the year 1890, together with his parents, he came to America and settled on a farm in Audubon County, Iowa, and lived here ever since, excepting 6 months which he spent in the training camp in Camp Dodge during the war.

Herman was a healthy boy in his childhood days but his health failed him ever since he was discharged from his military duties, sinking slowly but steadily until death released him on Friday, January 30, 1924, at the age of 37 years, 1 month, and 9 days.

There remains to mourn his departure his aged mother, Mrs. M. Borkowski; two brothers, Fred and Gustav both of Audubon County; and three sisters, Mrs. Adolph Elias of Wessington Springs, South Dakota; Mrs. Carl Rott of Winona, Minnesota; and Mrs. Wilhelm Schultz of Audubon County.

The deceased was a very faithful son, brother, and member of the Lutheran congregation of the Trinity Church, was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

Interment was made in the Lincoln Township Cemetery, the Rev. Hugo Nieting officiating.

The bereaved family has our deepest sympathy.
