ED HOLDSWORTH

Funeral services for Edward Henry Holdsworth, 71, were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 18, at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning, with Rev. Robert Rushing of the Presbyterian Church officiating.

Mrs. Lyle Joens was soloist for the service, Mrs. Bonita Hagedorn, the organist.

Military rites were at Manning Cemetery by the Ceremonials teams of Emil Ewoldt Post No. 22 and VFW Post No. 3517. Pallbearers were Raymond L. Holdsworth, Harold Holdsworth, Manilla; Robert Holdsworth, Merlin Holdsworth, Denison; Vernon Holdsworth, Irwin; and Lester Boyens, Manilla.

Son of George Henry and Dora (Briggman) Holdsworth, he was born December 1, 1896, in Iowa Township, Crawford County and attended rural schools near his home. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on December 12, 1917, and was discharged on December 20, 1918.

He was married to Emma Jurgensen on December 3, 1919, at Manilla. The couple had five children. They farmed near Buck Grove and Tennant and moved to a farm near Manilla in 1946. They moved to Manning in 1954, following retirement from the farm.

Mr. Holdsworth died at his home on January 15, 1968, after cleaning snow from the sidewalks.

He was a member of the Manning Presbyterian Church and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by a son, John, and his parents.

He is survived by his wife and four children: Mrs. John (Helen) Barrett, Shelby; Mrs. Henry (Grace) Tindall, Tigard, Oregon; Eddie Holdsworth, Westside; Melvin Holdsworth, Manilla; 11 grandchildren and three brothers: George, Manilla; Alex, Manning; and John of Audubon; a sister, Mrs. Matthew Boyce, Long Beach, California.
