JULIUS CARL EHLERS
Julius Carl Ehlers, 65, Arcadia, died at 11:50 p.m. Thursday, October 5, 1961, at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll, where he had been a patient since September 30.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, October 9, at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia, of which he was a member. The Rev. Frank M. Sass will officiate; and burial will be in the Arcadia Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning after 2 p.m. Saturday until 10 a.m. Monday, at which time the body will be taken to the church in Arcadia.

Mr. Ehlers was a son of Henry and Magdalene (Luchau) Ehlers. He was born January 18, 1896, in Washington Township, and attended Washington No. 2 rural school.

He served in World War I in 1918-19; and was married April 7, 1920, to Minnie Wilfang at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia. They farmed until moving into Arcadia about two years ago.

Surviving are his wife Minnie and the following children: Vernon Ehlers, Arcadia; Harold Ehlers, Alta; the Rev. Harvey Ehlers, Bridgeport, Nebraska; Mrs. Richard (Ruth) Novak, Big Rapids, Michigan; Mrs. Elmer (Dorothy) Bernstrauch, Norfolk, Nebraska; and Wilbert Ehlers, Arcadia, Iowa; nine grandchildren; five brothers, Paul Ehlers, Orient, Iowa; Henry Ehlers, Storm Lake, Iowa; Emil Ehlers, Arcadia, Iowa; Arnold Ehlers, Rose Creek, Minnesota; and Arthur Ehlers, Denison, Iowa; and two sisters, Maria and Leona Ehlers, Arcadia, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Albert Ehlers in 1935, and Elmer Ehlers, killed on Luzon in 1945; his parents and two brothers, Walter and Adolph Ehlers.
