John W. "Jack" Keat, 78, of Manning died at his home Sunday afternoon, October 7, 1973.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church here, with the Rev. Edward F. Heinicke officiating. Pallbearers were Kenneth, James, and Daniel Kent; Charles and John Petersen; and Thomas Schroeder.

Burial was in the Manning Cemetery, with military honors by the American Legion and V.F.W. Posts of Manning.

Mr. Keat, son of Samuel and Sarah Tate Keat was born March 14, 1895, in Ewoldt Township, Carroll County, and attended rural schools near his home. He farmed in Audubon and Carroll Counties until retiring and moving to Harlan in 1950. In 1966 he moved to Manning, where he was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife, Rosa; a son, Kenneth of Manilla; three daughters, Mrs. Don (Clarice) Garner of Oregon, Mrs. Robert (Leola) Petersen of North Platte, Nebraska, and Mrs. Pete (Donna) Schroeder of Waco, Nebraska; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mabel Keat of Manning and Nell Keat of Omaha.
