Military Rites For Manning Snow Victim
Services Will Be Held Monday Afternoon For L.J. Jentsch
A military funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Ohde funeral home for Lawrence J. Jentsch, who passed away early Friday morning at his home in Manning. Pallbearers will be members of the American Legion Post of Manning.

Mr. Jentsch died at his home at 5 o'clock Friday morning, January 8, 1937. His death was caused by a heart attack, which was attributed to over exertion the night before when he walked home in the deep snow, from town, where he had attended a Legion meeting.

BORN AT ARCADIA
Mr. Jentsch, son of Paul and Emma (Lahann) Jentsch, was born at Arcadia October 25, 1894. He was three years old when the family moved to Manning.

With the exception of three years when he was in the dry cleaning business at Pontiac, Michigan, he spent virtually all of his life in Manning. For several years he was in the dry cleaning business there. At the time of his death be was in the employment of the Parrott Product Company.

Mr. Jentsch was a Corporal in Company 9, Coast Guard Artillery, and was stationed for some time at Oahu, Hawaii.

He is survived by his parents, three brothers, Earl, Melvin, and Oliver Jentsch, and four sisters, Mrs. Wheeler Kempf (Eleanor), Mrs. Henry Brandhorst (Pearl), Mrs. Alfred Mohr (Melitta), all of Manning, and Miss Olive Jentsch at home.

Military Funeral Rites Held For Lawrence Jentsch
Military funeral services were held on Monday for Lawrence J. Jentsch, who passed away suddenly at his home on Friday, January 8th, 1937, at 5 A.M. Mr. Jentsch was stricken with a heart ailment Thursday evening after battling his way home during the blizzard.

Lawrence J. Jentsch, son of Paul and Emma (Lahann) Jentsch, was born in Arcadia, Iowa, October 25, 1894. At the age of three years he moved with his parents to Manning. Later he engaged in business here, where he continued to live and work, except for three years when he was engaged in business in Pontiac, Michigan. At the time of his death he was employed at the W.B. Parrott Company of Manning.

Mr. Jentsch enlisted on May 14, 1917, at Ft. Logan, Colorado, later being sent to Honolulu, Hawaii. On November 12, 1918, he was promoted to the rank of corporal. After having served twenty-one months, he was honorably discharged from Company 9, United States Coast Artillery Corps at Oahu, Hawaii, on February 6, 1919. He was a member of the local Emil Ewoldt Post No. 22, American Legion.

Mr. Jentsch died on January 8, 1937, at the age of 42 years, 3 months, and 13 days. Besides his parents, he is survived by three brothers, Earl, Melvin, and Oliver Jentsch and four sisters, Mrs. Wheeler Kempf, Mrs. Henry Brandhorst, Mrs. Alfred Mohr, and Miss Olive Jentsch, all of Manning.

Military funeral services were held on Monday at two o'clock from the Ohde Funeral Home with the Rev. George E. Steele, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, officiating. Members of Emil Ewoldt Post No. 22, American Legion, acted as pallbearers. Interment was made in the Manning Cemetery.

Out-of-town attendants at the services were Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hartman, Glidden, Iowa; Mrs. Lucy Randall, Glidden, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Voss, Schleswig, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Grothe, Denison, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mesher, Arcadia, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. A.H. Mohr, Arcadia, Iowa; Mr. Carl Langbehn, Tenant, Iowa; and Mr. and Mrs. Kenard Chaney, of Audubon, Iowa.
