When Harold was young he never dreamed that when he was riding horses with his friend Amos Kusel on the August Kusel farm that he would some day be in the Horse Cavalry and fight in the second "War To End All Wars".

Hip started playing the trumpet when he was 14.

He started playing for the Harmony boys around 1933.
