LYLE JOHN ANTHONY
Lyle John Anthony, 54, of Woodward, Iowa, formerly of Manning, died Wednesday, September 29, 1982, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. He had been in failing health tor the past three years.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 2, at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning with the Rev. Dennis Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery. Serving as active casketbearers will be Harold Reinke, Clifford Nelson, Warren Wegner, Richard Hansen, Harold Borkowski and Kenneth Jensen. Honorary bearers will be Raymond Nelson, Jasper Ward, Don Bothwell, James Rothfus, and Alvin Jensen.

Mr. Anthony is survived by his wife Esther, Woodward; three children: Connie Anthony, Charleston, South Carolina; James Anthony and his wife Corine, New York City, New York, and Jerry Anthony and his wife Gloria, Manning; two grandchildren: Kyle and Allan Anthony; two brothers: Merle, Fairfield Nebraska; and Glen Anthony, Sacramento, California; his father-in-law, Ed Stuhr, Manning; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law, Mrs. Ed Stuhr.

Mr. Anthony was born May 30, 1928, at Manning, a son of Henry and Emma (Stammer) Anthony. He was married to Esther Stuhr Hinners on April 3, 1970. He attended Manning schools, and graduated from Manilla High School.

He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in August of 1945 and was discharged in May of 1946.

He lived all his life in Manning until 1972 when he moved to Woodward where he was an employee of the State of Iowa. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3517 and American Legion Post No. 22, Manning.


Lyle & Esther are buried in the Manning Cemetery.
