Funeral services for Louie Hansen were held Sunday, January 13, 1985, at 2:00 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. Pastor Paul Krumm officiated the service with Dorothy Kusel as organist and the Zion Lutheran Quartet as vocalists. Interment was held in Manning City Cemetery with Bill Shannon, Virgil Carter, Allyn Erb, Robert Kruse, Kenneth Arkfeld, and Selmer Hodne and casketbearers. Honorary casketbearers were Glen Jensen, Frank Handlos, Alfred Dammann, Milford McConnell, Leslie Doyel, and Lyle Borkowski. Ohde Funeral Home in Manning was in charge of arrangements.
Louie, son of Nick and Anna Ronnfeldt Hansen, was born September 13, 1910, in Jefferson Township, Shelby County, Iowa. He lived with his family for many years on the farm where he was born north east of Irwin.

Louie served his country in the United States Army Coast Guard from April 29, 1942, until January 1, 1946. He spent 22 months in the Aleutian Islands and, after a short time in Texas, he served in the Pacific Theatre in Okinawa.

Louie was united in marriage with Inez Laverne Martindale on May 13, 1944. After his discharge from the U.S. Army in 1946, they farmed near Irwin for 8 years. In 1954 they moved to a farm south of Botna, Iowa, where they remained until his retirement in 1974 when they moved into Manning, Iowa.

Louie was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, and the American Legion Post #22.

He had been in failing health for about 4 years before his death on Friday, January 11, 1985, at St. Anthony Hospital, Carroll, Iowa, at the age of 74 years, 3 months, 28 days. Louie was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; Albert, Otto, Alfred and John; and three sisters: one in infancy, Elsie, and Mabel Nordby, in 1984.
He is survived by his wife, Inez of Manning, one brother, Henry Hansen, Irwin; two sisters: Mrs. Alice Albertsen, Council Bluffs, and Mrs. Frank (Alma) Perry, Manilla; one sister-in-law: Lillie Hansen, Audubon; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.


Louie & Inez are buried in the Manning Cemetery.
