Uriah Lenhart Dead.
The people of Manning were somewhat surprised Tuesday evening, when word came that Uriah Lenhart was dead and his remains would be here Wednesday morning for interment. For some time he had been ailing, as he moved from Grant City, Iowa, about a year ago, to Brewster, Kansas, for the benefit of his and his wife's health.

The altitude was too high there for him and the doctor told him he must leave there, hence he moved to Red Cloud, Nebraska, and was there only six weeks when he died.

Thus passeth away a good man, whose life was an example of law abiding, helpful, substantial citizenship to everyone, As one of his soldier comrades said; "You cannot say anything too good of this man. I knew him for years and he was always as a brother to me. I loved him as a brother, and there is no man can say that he was not and upright, honorable man." Mr. Lenhart was always opposed to any great display: He was a man of quiet life and steadfast principles. He loved his fellowmen and all who were honest and square. Nothing could induce him to stoop to anything discreditable and he found life's pleasures in doing his best for those he loved and in getting in no man's way." Uriah Lenhart was born in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania, July 9, 1831, and hence he was 74 years old last July. He came to Illinois when a boy and, later was married to Mary Arford. Three children were born to them, two boys and one girl, of which the girl died when a child. The two sons Alonzo, of Geneoa, and Milt, of Red Cloud, accompanied the remains to Manning, where they were laid to rest by the side of their mother, The funeral was held at the M.E. Church, Rev. Golden officiating.
