Funeral services for Levi Hansen, 81, of Manning, were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 27, 1969, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Irwin, with Pastor Marvin L. Hagen officiating. Burial was in Union Township Cemetery near Defiance. Nephews acted as pallbearers: Vernon Schoening, Ted Krogh, Raynor Schlimmer, Edward Wigg, Allen and Ronald Christensen. Military rites were by the Ceremonials teams of Manning's American Legion and FVW Posts.

Son of Andrew and Meta Jacobsen Hansen, he was born November 1, 1887, near Kimballton. As a child he went to Denmark with his mother and attended school there. Following her death, he returned to the United States to live with his grandparents and finish his schooling.

On February 11, 1923, he was married to Nettie Christensen. They farmed in Shelby and Crawford Counties and moved to Manning in 1958.

In failing health for eleven months, he died on Friday, October 24, 1969, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison.

He was preceded by a daughter, at the age of three; his parents, a brother, and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Lorna) Crisp, Omaha; a son, Leland of Oakland and four grandchildren.
