William R. Meredith was born August 17, 1929, the son of William and Eilene Meredith. He passed away at his home on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, near Westside, Iowa, at the age of 81.

William was born in Wales on August 17, 1929. As a young man, he came with his mother and brother to Canada in the late 1940s. He met his future wife through correspondence and came to meet her in Westside. He married Mae Ann Ostermeyer in 1960. Mae passed away in 2006 and Bill continued to live on the farm near Westside until his death.

Bill was a kind, gentle, and caring man, and loved to tell stories about his past. He was devoted to his beloved Mae. The couple enjoyed traveling together and owned and operated Windmill Antiques. Bill worked at Farmland in Denison for 27 years until retiring in1985. He had eight years of formal education and still corresponded with his cousins living in Wales.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mae; his parents-in-law, John and Anna Ostermeyer; and his twin brother, in infancy. Survivors include one brother, Edward of Vancouver, British Columbia; and special friends, Larry and Deanne Wolterman of Carroll, Iowa.
