Cornelius Thomas "Neal" Dunnick
June 13, 1901 - 1920

Neal Thomas Dunnick was born on a farm 5 miles south of Dedham, just in Audubon Co., on June 13, 1900. He died May 31, 1920. He was the son of John and Esther (Markley) Dunnick.

When Neal was about 3 years old the family moved to Manning Iowa. Neal was active at school and played Basketball and Football.

After Neal Graduated from High school with honor, he entered Iowa State College, Ames Iowa. While there he continued his interest in sports, where he took second honors in the school collegiate track meet where he started in the high jump, broad jump, and high hurdles, he won his college letter by competition, he also became a member of Gamma Sigma #138 / Sigma nu Fraternity.

Neal enlisted at Nevada, Iowa in 1918 as a Pvt. with "knowledge as Signalman".
Neal was enlisted in the S.A.T.C. (Student Army Training Corps) at Iowa State College, Ames Iowa. He received his Honorable Discharge from The United States Army upon the expiration of service 13th day of December 1918.

Neal Dunnick had an interest in Veterinary Medicine and was enrolled in those classes at Iowa State, Neal was at school when he contracted Meningitis and died.
Neal was laid to rest at Manning Iowa.
Rev. Meredith conducted the service and the Manning Band and Members of the American Legion paid Military Honors.


Neal Dunnick is buried in the Manning Cemetery.
