PAUL V. BINGHAM DEAD

Paul V. Bingham, 1219 Lawrence, died Friday morning, January 20, 1950, at 9:30 o'clock at the Veteran's hospital in Wichita.

Mr. Bingham was born in Iowa in 1893. He came to Emporia in 1923 where he has been an insurance man for the American Home Life insurance company of Topeka. He is survived by his wife of the home, one son, William Bingham, a cadet at the United States Military academy at West Point; his mother, Mrs. Fannie Bingham, of Lawrence, and four brothers and one sister.

Funeral services for Paul V. Bingham, who died in the Veterans hospital in Wichita Friday morning, will be held Tuesday afternoon at the Roberts-Blue Chapel at 2 o'clock. The Rev. H. Hilton Longberry, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will officiate, and he will be assisted at the graveside by the American Legion, with Thomas A. Lowe, chaplain. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Paul Bingham, who lived at 1219 Lawrence, was born in Manning, Iowa, July 11, 1891, a son of the late George H. Bingham and Fannie E. (Pattison) Bingham. He came to Kansas in 1908, and moved from Bradford to Emporia in 1923. He married Cora Smith in Emporia September 5, 1923. He was agent for the American Home Life Insurance company of Topeka.

Mr. Bingham is survived by his wife, of the home; one son, William Paul Bingham, of West Point, New York; his mother, Mrs. Fannie E. Bingham of Lawrence; four brothers, Lloyd E. of Tucson, Arizona, Ross A. Bingham of Compton, California; Leigh H. Bingham of Topeka, Kansas; and Oren R. Bingham of Merchantville, New Jersey; and one sister, Mrs. Clara Blough of Lawrence.

He was a member of the American Legion and the Emporia Underwriter's Association.


William Paul "Bill" Bingham, Sr.

Lt. Col. William Paul "Bill", Bingham, Sr. (USAF, retired) passed away October 5, 2015, in Panama City, Florida, after a brief illness. A native of Emporia, Kansas, Bill was a graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy and West Point Military Academy. He served his country as a pilot in Vietnam, a test pilot, Command Pilot in the USAF, and was a founding member of the Space Command.

Born May 22, 1929, he was preceded in death by his parents, Paul V. and Cora (Smith) Bingman of Emporia, Kansas; his wife, Hilda Mae Thomas Bingman and a daughter, Teri Sue Bingham Phillips.

Survivors include his sons, William Paul Bingham, Jr. of Cairo, Georgia, and Thomas Vern Bingham of Dothan, Alabama.

Bill will be laid to rest beside his parents with full military honors at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 10, 2015, at the Patio Garden of Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia. The service will be conducted by Rev. Lee Hoskins, Emporia.
