Local Boys In Service Write Home
ENROUTE TO CAMP?
Paul Grimm, who went into the service just last week, writes home: "I am leaving for parts unknown and don't write until you hear from me again."
"We had our shots in the arm yesterday, and boy is the right arm sore, but we are sure having a lot of fun. We have negroes in our barracks and they are a lot of fun but I suppose we will have a few hardships along the line.
"Tell everybody hello and write as soon as I get to camp. I don't know where we are going, they won't tell you a thing but orders.

Sends Greetings From Australia
Mrs. Dora Grimm received a telegram of greetings to her and family from her son, Pvt. Paul Grimm who is stationed somewhere in Australia.

Paul Grimm at Ft. Ord
"It is about time I was thanking someone for the Monitor and the good service. I have received every issue, and can't tell you folks how I enjoy it, for it sure is a welcome little paper. So here's thanking the American Legion, the Monitor Publishing Co., and everybody concerned, very, very much.
"I see in the last issue that the boys had a firemen's banquet. Suppose some one got sick from eating too much goose again. There usually is someone that don't know when to quit the way I always was.

"Say Hello to the gang and thank everybody concerned for me. "I am writing this on the steering wheel of my truck out in the bivouac area, sneaking in a little government time, but suppose I'll make up for it if they catch me.
"Oh, oh, here comes one of those little Sgts. with the big tough mouth, so had better close. "Thanks again, Pvt. Paul Grimm. Co. F 532 E.A.R., Ft. Ord., Calif

Am receiving the paper regular again after a lapse of about a month.
"Milo Boock receives the Carroll paper so we trade and get all the news from the county.
There are four of us from our county-have been together since we were inducted, and we have a lot of talks about different places at home. Met Chester Kuhl about a month ago, had a long, interesting chat.

"Well, here's wishing everybody back home a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and hope to be with them all next, year.
I am feeling fine."
