Otto Herman Carl Popp, well-known farmer, died at 10 p.m. Friday September 10, 1954, at the Manning General Hospital, where he had been taken after suffering a stroke it 6 p.m. at his home. He had worked as usual during the day.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Ohde Funeral Home, here.

Mr. Popp was a Soil Conservation District Commissioner. He was in his late fifties.

Surviving are his wife, the former Esther Jensen of Manning, two children: Mrs. Billie (Marilyn) Nelson, and Larry, both of Manning, and several brothers and sisters.

Otto was born October 14, 1896, to Detlef and Fredericka (Jentzen) Popp.

Funeral service for Otto Popp, 57, prominent Manning farmer, were held Monday afternoon at Ohde Funeral Home, here. Dr. F.E. Hamlin of the Manning Presbyterian Church officiated. The Presbyterian mixed quartet, Martha (Mrs. Nick C.) Schrum, Emma (Mrs. Albert) Dietz, Arthur Rix, and Ray Pratt sang, accompanied by Bonita (Mrs. Henry W.) Hagedorn.

Burial was in the Manning Cemetery, with military and Masonic graveside rites.

Mr. Popp, became ill Friday evening, September 10, 1954, and died the same evening. He was born at Manning October 4, 1896, and had farmed all his life. He was active in conservation work and at the present time was a District Conservation Commissioner. He was a member of Emil Ewoldt Post No. 22, American Legion, and Manual Lodge AF&AM.

He is survived by his wife, the former Esther Jensen of Manning; two children, Marilyn (Mrs. Billie) Nelson, and Larry, at home; and the following brothers and sisters: William, Carroll; Detlef, Maria (Mrs. Bert) Eich, Henry, Esther (Mrs. Lou) Bohnsack, Elmer, and Louis of Manning; Erwin, Walnut, and Wilma (Mrs. George) Wiese.

One sister, Anna (Mrs. Amos) Epson of Arcadia, preceded him in death.
