ROY S. HIATT
Funeral services for Roy S. Hiatt, 67, Manning, were held Saturday, May 2, at 2 p.m. at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Irwin, Iowa. He died April 30, 1964.

Graveside military rites were conducted by the ceremonial teams of Emil Ewoldt Post No. 22, American Legion, and VFW Post No. 3517. Ray Pratt was soloist for the service; Bonita (Mrs. Herman W.) Hagedorn, organist. The Rev. Nancy Nichols of the Irwin Methodist Church officiated at the rites.

A son of Sylvester and Mary (Penticoff) Hiatt, he was born April 11, 1897, at Hampton. He died at the Omaha Veterans' Administration Hospital April 30 following a two-year illness. He had been at the hospital seven weeks.

As a young man he came to the Irwin community with his parents. He served in World War I.

In 1919, he married Fern Bailey and the couple had three children, two of whom died in infancy. Mrs. Hiatt died in January 1925. On September 16, 1925, he married Edna Mohr, and they had three children. Mr. Hiatt farmed in the Irwin community until moving to Manning in 1944.

He was preceded in death also by two children, two grandchildren, a brother, Austin Earl Hiatt, and a sister Mrs. Joe (Clara) Blain.

Surviving are his wife and the following children: Mrs. Glen (Velma) Huey, Botna; Ronald, Manning; Raymond, Omaha; Mrs. Gary (Priscilla) Ferryman, Omaha; a step-son, Chester Mohr, Tempe, Arizona; 12 grandchildren; two brothers, Robert, Excelsior Springs, Missouri; and William, Irwin; and a sister, Mabel Hiatt, Irwin.
