Harold Robert Resner


Harold R., born at Crete, Nebraska, July 23, 1898, later lived with his parents at Ronan, Montana, and was employed there in a drug store. Harold was the soldier son. He spent a year and a half in France, being with the One Hundred and Fifty-seventh Aerial Squadron where he was a soldier, an aviator, and saw hard and strenuous duty on the battle front in France. He was mustered out in June, 1919.

Harold Resner

Harold Robert Resner, 79, a former resident of Ronan who has been living in San Diego, California, died Thursday, December 8, 1977, in a San Diego hospital after a long illness.

He was born July 23, 1898, in Manning, Iowa, to Dr. Andrew Karl and Lydia (Shaerer) Resner. Youngest of four children, Harold joined his three older brothers, Herbert, and twins, Carl and Roy, all of them attended Manning School.

He moved as a small boy from Iowa to Ronan, Montana, with his parents in 1910, where he attended schools. He owned and operated the Ronan Gaiety Theater and the Sandsmark Hotel. Mr. Resner also worked in the Ronan Post Office and the Ronan State Bank.

In 1943, he moved to San Diego, where he owned and operated a hardware store.

Harold served in the Army during World War I. He spent a year and a half in France, being with the One Hundred and Fifty-seventh Aerial Squadron. He was mustered out in June, 1919.

Mr. Resner was a member of the Ronan Masonic Lodge 131 AF & AM; the Ronan Blue Lodge, and the American Legion Post 6, the Shrine and the Scottish Rite in San Diego.

Survivors include three sons, Gordon, Polson, and Robert, San Diego, and one granddaughter.

Masonic graveside rites will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Ronan Cemetery, Ronan, Montana. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Shrider Funeral Home in Ronan.

Harold's first wife was Pearl B. Resner (1899 - 1972). She is buried in Ronan Cemetery Ronan, Montana.
Harold's second wife was Grace Eleanor (Langhoff) Resner, born March 22, 1900 in Kalispell, Montana and died July 1, 1967 in San Diego, California. She is buried in Greenwood Memorial Park, San Diego, California.
