Johnnie Stewart

November 17, 1904 Death Of James Stewart: Mr. James Stewart, a former resident of Jackson Township; but who has recently made his home in Harlan, died last Sunday, November 6, 1904, at the age of 94 years. Mr. was born in County Cavan, Ireland, in 1810. He was married in Ireland to Anna Gibson who survives him. Fifteen children were born to them, eleven of whom are still living. They are Thomas, Lizzie, John James, Joseph Henry, George E., Maggie, Samuel R., Isaiah G., Andrew, Richard and Sarah. The family emigrated to America in 1877, going to Marengo, Iowa, where they remained about a month and then removed to Shelby County, settling on the farm in Jackson Township which the family still owns.

The following relatives were present at the funeral: Thomas Stewart of Bloomfield, Nebraska, Mr. and Mrs. John J. Stewart of Manning, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph H. Stewart of Manning, Mr. and Mrs. Eli Harter of Sac City, S.R. Stewart and wife, I.G. Stewart and wife, Richard Stewart and wife, Andrew, George E. and Miss Sarah Stewart of this county; Misses Effie and Hazel McEnturff, of Manning. Mrs. Charles Boland of Williamsburg, M.F Kerwin and daughter and Miss Mildred Morissey, of Audubon County.
