LIONEL SURRIDGE
Lionel Merlin "Jim" Surridge, 80, of Sacramento, California, died Monday, December 16, 1974, in a Sacramento convalescent home where he had been for a year and a half. He was a former Manning resident.

Services will be held here at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Ohde Funeral Home, with the Rev. Joel Wright, minister of the Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery.

Mr. Surridge, son of Thomas and Emma (Hesley) Surridge, was born at Welton, England, September 1, 1894.

During World War I, he served as a Captain in the British Army. He came to the United States in 1919, and on October 4, 1923, married Ola K. Parrott at Des Moines. They lived at Onawa and in 1928 came to the Manning vicinity, farming southwest of town.

Mrs. Surridge died November 9, 1966, and in July 1967, Mr. Surridge moved to California to be near his daughter.

Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. Wesley (Patricia) Leuth of Costa Mesa, California; two granddaughters, Debbie of Palo Alto, California; and Jacquelyn of Austin, Texas; a brother, Bert, of Manning, and another brother, Bass, and two sisters, Ivy and Lizzie, all in England.

Two brothers preceded him in death.


Lionel Surridge is buried in the Manning Cemetery.
