TRUMAN HENRY EWOLDT
1916 - 1986

Truman was a resident of Terrace Apartments in Manning, Iowa from 1984 to 1986. His sister was Loretta Vinke.

Funeral services for Truman Henry Ewoldt were held Thursday, October 16, 1986 at 10:00 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church of Arcadia, Iowa. Burial was in the Arcadia Cemetery. The Rev. Jack Dahl officiated at the service. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Virgil Anderson, Albert Ewoldt, Dewey Hargens, Don Hargens, John F. Kroeger, Orville Kroeger, Verle Massman and Clayton Meyer. Serving as pallbearers were Dale Ewoldt, Mark Isaacs, Kenneth Neumann, John Vetter, Gale Vinke and Gary Vinke.

Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of the Huebner Funeral Home of Denison, Iowa. Truman Henry Ewoldt was born February 11, 1916 in Hayes Township, Crawford County, Iowa, the son of William and Amanda Asmus Ewoldt. He died Monday, October 13, 1986 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, Iowa at the age of 70 years, 8 months and 2 days.
Truman was baptized in 1916 and confirmed into the Lutheran Church in 1930. He spent his early years on a farm near Westside, Iowa. He received his early childhood education in rural school.
On June 17, 1942 he married Pearl E. Isaacs in Omaha, Nebraska. Together they made their home on a farm near Westside.

On April 7, 1945 Truman entered the Army and was discharged October 3, 1946 at which time he returned to farm near Westside.

In 1972 he retired from farming and went to work for the City of Westside. He was employed by the city of Westside for ten years. He retired from the City in 1982. Since then Truman has been working on a farm.
Truman was a long time member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Arcadia, Iowa and was an active member of the Alfred R. Rossman American Legion Post No. 196 of Westside. In addition to his parents, Truman was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl, on June 25, 1983, and by two brothers, Vertus and Gilbert Ewoldt.
Survivors include his children: Joan, Mrs. Alvin Reinart of Carroll; Robert T. Ewoldt of Gray; Connie Ewoldt of Carroll; Randy Ewoldt and his wife Kathy of Carroll; and Steven Ewoldt of Ames; two grandchildren, Shawn Ewoldt of Gray, and Melissa Reinart of Carroll; one sister, Loretta Vinke of Manning; many other relatives and a host of friends.

He entered the army on March 4, 1943, and has been overseas since May 3, 1944.
S/Sgt, Ewoldt also wears the Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters "for meritorious achievement in aerial combat" over Germany and enemy-occupied Europe.
