John L. "Jack" Tarpy
Funeral services for John Leo Tarpy, 64, were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church. The Rev. Paul Potter gave the funeral sermon. Mr. Tarpy died Sunday morning, January 4, 1959, at Denver where he and Mrs. Tarpy had been visiting their daughter and family.

He was born to Thomas and Flora (White) Tarpy at Denison, November 24, 1894. He was married to Elizabeth Gottsch September 15, 1920. One daughter Audrey (Mrs. Melvin Stark) of Denver was born to them.

Mr. Tarpy was preceded in death by his father, one brother and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, daughter Audrey, three grandchildren, his mother, Mrs. Flora Tarpy of Manilla, two sisters, Marion (Mrs. Melvin Jans) of Sac City and Hazel (Mrs. Herb Bandow) of Manilla.

Mr. Tarpy was a member of the Methodist Church, the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star. Masonic services were held at the church and military services at the graveside. E.L. Christian was soloist and Mrs. W.K. Hunter presided at the organ. Pallbearers were Karl Staab, LeRoy Schafer, Don Tischer, Charles Raine, C.C. Lille, and Russell Mason. The Farber and Otteman Funeral Home was in charge of burial in the Ferguson Cemetery, Lake View, Iowa.
