VIRGINIA MAE (SULLIVAN-LIVINGSTON) MORRIS
The matriarch of our family has passed away. Teacher, Marine, mom, grandma, chocolate chip cookie baker, and embroider of many a tea towel, Virginia Mae (Livingston) Morris will be greatly missed.

Born on February 22, 1925, to Joseph and Laverna (Kracht) Sullivan, at her family farm near Westside, Iowa, Virginia grew up in Manning, Iowa, graduating from Manning High School in 1943 before moving with her family to Portland, Oregon, during World War II; her mother was married to Ed Livingston. She joined the service and served as a Marine in San Diego, where she met and wed Roy Morris in November 1945.

After graduating from Arkansas State Teacher's College near Little Rock, Roy and Virginia moved to Yacolt, Washington, teaching in the Vancouver and Portland areas for over 30 years.

After retiring, they moved to Olympia. In retirement, Virginia enjoyed traveling, drag racing, volunteering at Griffin Elementary, spending time with her family, and keeping close ties with friends both near and far away. She passed away in her home surrounded by her family on July 15, 2014.

Virginia is survived by her sons: Roy Jr. (wife Nancy), Frank, Jim (wife Cheryl); her grandchildren, Rebecca, Peter, Shannon, Casey, Shelby, and Andy; and eight great-grandchildren. Virginia will be laid to rest with her husband, Roy Morris, Sr., a Naval Veteran of WWII (who passed in 1991); and her son, Ed (who passed in 1981) at the Brush Prairie Cemetery on Monday, July 21 at 2:00 p.m., with a memorial gathering to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Griffin Fire Department (Olympia, Washington), Paralyzed Veterans of America or other veterans association.
