George E. Weidner

George is the son of Charles Frederich Weidner and Minnie Sophie Hinz, both buried in the Manning Cemetery.

He was born in Manning, Iowa and was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He graduated from High School in Manning, Iowa in 1915 and attended [but did not graduate from] Iowa State University.

George enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War I, and later attended officers training school at Camp Taylor, Kentucky. He then was commissioned a 2/Lt. at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma in Field Artillery.
He was discharged on December 20, 1918, then entered Civil Service as Mechanical Engineer with the Army Air Corp, during World War II transferred to the U.S. Corps of Engineers. After 33 years of civilian service, he retired to Albuquerque.


George Weidner
George E. Weidner, 90 (born 1895), a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, passed away in a local hospital on Monday, April 21, 1986. He is survived by his wife, Eva G. Weidner, of the family home, one son, Kenneth E. Weidner, and wife Miriam, of Albuquerque; one sister, Dorothea Dare, Dunedin, Florida; four grandchildren, Scott Weidner, Doug Weidner, Keith Weidner, and Carol Lanes; three great-grandchildren, Jeremy Weidner, Heather Weidner, and Sarah Lanes; and one nephew. He was a member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church. He married Eva Wark on October 12, 1922.

He was born in Manning, Iowa. He graduated from High School in Manning, Iowa, in 1915, and attended Iowa State University. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, with Rev. James Hogue officiating. Entombment will be in Sunset Mausoleum, Sunset Memorial Park, Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Pallbearers will be Lavelle Thompson, Bob Roberts, Glen West, John Chaves, Bill Geck, and Karl Rueb.
