WILLIAM C. SCHRUM

Funeral services for William C. Schrum, 84, were held Monday, June 11, 1979, at 2:00 p.m. at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning.
Officiating was the Rev. Joel Wright of the First Presbyterian Church. Organist was Mrs. Bonita Hagedorn and soloist was Mrs. Judy Joens.
Interment was in Manning Cemetery. Military Honors and casketbearers were the American Legion Post 22 and the V.F.W. Post 3517.

William, son of Henry & Christina (Bahde) Schrum, was born on June 19, 1894, in Manning, Iowa. He attended Manning schools. He served his country, during World War I.

He was united in marriage with Alice Kroeger on July 23, 1919, in McKinley, Wisconsin. This union was blessed with three children. They lived all of their married life in Manning, where Bill was with the United States Post Office for over 38 years. His wife died on May 31, 1976.

Bill was a long time member of the Manning Fire Department; a Fifty Year Mason and Eastern Star; a life member of the American Legion (60 years); and a member of Scottish Rite of Sioux City.

He has been living at the Manning Plaza and died at the Manning General Hospital on June 7, 1979, at the age of 84 years, 11 months, 18 days.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one son, Ray.

He is survived by a son, Don Schrum of Missouri Valley, Ia., a daughter, Mrs. Jean Rathfon, Selinsgrove, Pa.; 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Mrs. Margaret Oeser, California, Minnie, Mrs. Bill Kruse, Manning, Alma, Mrs. John Frahm, Manning, Leona, Mrs. Leo Babl, Rock Rapids, Ia., one brother, Heiny Schrum, California; and many other relatives and friends.


William Schrum is buried in the Manning Cemetery.
