ALBERT F. HALBUR

Mass of the Christian burial for Albert F. Halbur of Halbur will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 17, 1997, at St. Augustine Church in Halbur.

Mr. Halbur, 84, died Tuesday, January 14, 1997, at Carroll Manor.

The Rev. Paul Kelly will officiate the Mass. Eucharistic minister will be Ivan Halbur. Gift bearers will be Mr. Halbur's grandchildren.

Casket bearers will be Roger Leiting, Keith Halbur, Matt Halbur, Brian Halbur, Kent Halbur, and Jeff Halbur. Honorary casket bearers will be Ted Eischeid, Andy Riesselman, Wilfred Eischeid, Ray Hacker, Cyril Williams, and Wilfred Naberhaus.

Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends will call after 2:30 and a rosary will be recited at 3 Thursday afternoon at Twit Funeral Home in Carroll. There will be a vigil service at 7:30 and a rosary at 8:15 Thursday night at the funeral home.

He was born December 11, 1912, at Halbur, a son of Joseph and Cecelia (Herbers) Halbur, and educated at St. Augustine School there.

He and Agnes Irlmeier were married Jan. 29, 1935, at Sacred Heart Church in Templeton.

Mr. Halbur was a lifelong farmer and resident of the Halbur area. He was also a chemical, fertilizer, and seed dealer for many years.

A former member of the Halbur City Council, he, was also a member of St. Augustine Parish and its Holy Name Society, church finance committee and building committee and had served on the Carroll County Condemnation Compensation Commission.

Survivors include a daughter, Alvina Leiting, and her husband, Vincent, of Westside; four sons and their wives: James and Betty Halbur of Carroll, Leroy and Donna Halbur, Manning, Marvin and Patricia Halbur of Manning and Ivan and Linda Halbur of Arcadia; 26 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a sister, Bertha Johnson, of Halbur; a daughter-in-law, Virginia Schultes, of Manning; a sister-in-law, Helen, Halbur; and a special friend, Bernice Landgraf, of Halbur.

Mr. Halbur was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes, in 1970; a son, Jerome Halbur; a brother, Lawrence Halbur; and a sister, Sister M. Iva.
