BONNIE COLE LEWIS
Bonnie (Cole) Lewis, 81, passed away at Eden Adult Care Facility in Mesa Arizona on August 15, 2005, after a short battle with complications of surgery and cancer. A service will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Mesa at 10 a.m. on August 18. There will be graveside services at Bethlehem Cemetery in Slater, Iowa, following visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. at Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home Tuesday, August 23.

Bonnie was born on February 24, 1924, to Roy and Gladys (Granseth) Cole in Manning, Iowa. Her family moved to Slater where her father was a barber and her mother operated a Scandinavian gift shop.

On August 25, 1946, Bonnie wed her husband of 58 years, Everett D. Lewis. They had two children and moved to Ankeny until their retirement to Mesa, Arizona.

Bonnie worked for the State of Iowa before marriage, stayed home to raise her children, then became one of the original employees of Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) as a secretary until she retired.

Bonnie enjoyed typing, computers, traveling in their motor home, her friends, family, church, and her dogs.

She is survived by her brother, Wayne (Virginia) Cole of Silver Spring, Maryland; son, Everett D. (Marcia) Lewis, Jr., of Comfort, Texas; and Kaneohe, Hawaii; daughter, Paula Moeckly (Steve) of Polk City, Iowa; two grandsons, and a great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
