Fern Carey-Frahm
Fern E. Frahm, 79 died suddenly Sunday, July 27, 1980, at her home here. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 1 p.m. today at the Sacred Heart Church in Manning, Iowa, by Monsignor Dean Walker. Burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery at Manilla, Iowa.

Casket bearers were Edward Blackman, Randy and Gary Dreessen, Paul Carey, Edward Lawler, and Pat Malloy. A rosary was recited and prayer vigil service was held Tuesday, July 29, at Ohde Funeral Home here.

Surviving are her husband Dr. Edward W. Frahm, Manning; step-daughters, Mrs. Ken (Jan) Steiner, Munich, Germany; and Mrs. Walt (Letty) Rothmeyer, Westside, Iowa; two step-granddaughters and sisters Kathleen Wall, Reseda, California; Jeanette Brewster, Omaha, Nebraska; Darlene Gehring, Denison, Iowa; Dorothy Hoover, Palos Verde, California; and Bonnie Benton, Westside, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Thomas Carey; a step-granddaughter; a brother, Francis Farley; and two sisters, Fannie Williamson and Maxine Carstens.

Fern Farley was born August 17, 1900, in Vail. She was the daughter of Frank and Myrtle (Barden) Farley. She attended St. Ann's School. Her first husband Thomas Carey, died in 1965, and she married Dr. Edward W. Frahm in Michigan on September 10, 1967.

Mrs. Frahm lived in Vail, Manilla, and Denison, and for many years she was employed as a telephone operator in Denison. She operated a cafe in Manilla. She and her husband moved to Manning in 1973. She was buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Manilla, Iowa.
