HENRY BRUS
Henry Brus, 81, a retired farmer, died Friday, January 27, at Bishop Clarkson Memorial Hospital in Omaha.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla with the pastor, the Rev. Glenn Wiechmann, officiating. Marian Joens will be organist and Phyllis Brus vocalist. Burial will be in Nishnabotna Cemetery with sons as casketbearers.

A wake service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manilla.

Mr. Brus is survived by eight children: Henry, Council Bluffs; Mrs. Benny (Jeanette) Mott, Pleasantville, Iowa; George, Newell; Dwight, Manilla; Jerry, Denison; Mrs. Marvin (Judith) Nobiling, Carroll; John and Steven Brus, Denison; 17 grandchildren; three brothers: Edward, Manilla; Hugo, Denison, and Carl Brus, Manning, and a sister, Mrs. Bill (Edna) Lohrmann, Manilla.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Joan) Santee; two brothers: John and Melvin Brus and two sisters in infancy.

Mr. Brus was born October 29, 1902, near Aspinwall, a son of Henry Theodor and Anna (Eggers) Brus. He attended school at Aspinwall and on December 25, 1937, was married to Margaret Pauline Weller at Buck Grove.

They farmed near Manilla and Dow City and in the mid-1940s moved back to his farm northwest of Manilla. He retired in 1966 from active farming and moved into Manilla in 1968. His wife died on April 17, 1976.
