Funeral services for Marcella Alfreda Asmus were held Saturday, January 10, 1987, at 1:30 p.m. at Stacy-Lewis Chapel, Columbus Junction, Iowa. Pastor Mark Latham officiated the service with music provided by Nancy Hain and Sherie Lowe. Casketbearers were her grandchildren: Brian Lowe, Scott Lowe, Mark Lowe, Lisabeth Lowe, Teresa Chapman, Todd Krouth, Julie Arnold, Janine Arnold, and Jason, Arnold, with interment in Columbus City Cemetery.

Marcella Alfreda Asmus, daughter of Chris and Marie Nuppnau Mohr, was born March 26, 1911. She attended Manning schools and was united in marriage to Fred Peter Asmus on July 5, 1930. They made their home in the Manning, Manilla and Gray areas, and in 1963 they moved to Letts, Iowa. Fred died November 4, 1982.
Before her retirement in 1976, Marcella worked at Thatcher Glass in Muscatine, Iowa. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and of the Letts Garden Club.

Marcella died Wednesday, January 7, 1987, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
She was preceded in death by her husband; by an infant son; by three brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Harry (Anna Marie) Lowe of Columbus Junction; Mrs. John (Genevieve) Humphreys of Columbus Junction; and Mrs. Gordon (Kathy) Arnold of Wilton, Iowa; by nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Herman (Leona) Asmus of Middleton, Iowa; two brothers, Chris Mohr of Council Bluffs and Kenneth Mohr of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
