OSCAR E. GASKILL

Oscar E. Gaskill, 82, of Manning, died Monday, March 29, 1982, at the Manning Plaza Nursing Home. He was a retired farmer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning with the Rev. Louis Miller, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Exira Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers will be Clinton and Allen Kienast, Lynn Gaskill, Don Swenson, Ronald Gaskill, and Richard Swenson. Honorary bearers will be Thomas Gaskill, Jeff and Stanley Kienast, Robert and Roger Swenson.

Mr. Gaskill is survived by the following children: Mrs. Art (Gwendolyn) Kienast, Jeff Person; Jack Gaskill, Irwin; Mrs. Dion (Charlotte) Swenson, Valley, Nebraska, and Robert Gaskill, Iowa City; 21 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; two step-children: Mrs. Leonard (Margaret) Knudsen, Audubon, and Robert Roberts, Las Vegas, and two brothers: Lyle Gaskill, Adair, and Edmund Gaskill, Audubon.

He was preceded in death by a son Oscar, Jr., in infancy; a daughter Francis as a young girl, a son, Bruce, on September 19, 1955; two sisters: Barbara Lansman and Zetta Theulan Harris, and a brother Clifford Gaskill.

Mr. Gaskill was born October 25, 1899, in Jefferson Township, Shelby County, a son of Samuel and Christina (Wooster) Gaskill. He was married March 5, 1917, to Margaret Anderson at Harlan. She died on January 29, 1952. He was married to Lillian Roberts in 1956. She died January 19, 1970. He retired from farming in 1966 and moved to Manning.
