Robert Laverne Froyd
Funeral services were conducted for Robert Laverne Froyd, 56, April 28 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Long Beach, California. Burial was in the Inglewood Park in Inglewood, California.

Bob, the son of John and Marie (Porsch) Froyd, was born May 6, 1938, and died April 25, 1995. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church near Gray. He was confirmed on April 6, 1952, at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning.

Bob received his early and secondary education in the area schools and graduated from Manning High School in 1956. He moved to California in 1956 and through the years worked for Mobil Oil Company, Lutheran Brotherhood, and Farmers Insurance as an agent and broker. In California Bob attended Cal State, Los Angeles. He was united in marriage to Marlene Johnson on August 22, 1958, at Zion Lutheran Church in Maywood, California.

Their marriage was blessed with three children. Bob and Marlene and their children joined Bethany Lutheran Church in 1959.

Bob served on the Board of Education for the schools, served as an offering counter, and was elected and served on the Board of Elders of the congregation this year. In the community, through the years, Bob was a Little League Coach, Pony League Coach, and coached and refereed for teams of the area school.

Bob is survived his wife, Marlene at home, his son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Eva Froyd of Carlsbad, California; his daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Perry Gomez of Morena Valley, California, his daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Steve Frill of Jackson, New Jersey; four grandchildren: Aubree Gomez, Kevin Froyd, Andre Gomez, and Kristin Froyd, his mother, Marie Froyd of Audubon; his brother, Donald Froyd and his wife, Marjorie, of Denver, Colorado.
