Funeral services for Valeria M. Dreher of Audubon, Iowa, were held, Saturday, August 11, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Audubon. Interment was in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon with Randy Dreher, Dan Dreher, Jon Meislahn, Eugene Stoberl, Dave Stoberl, and Randy Stoberl as casketbearers. Honorary casketbearers were Ron Christensen, Gary Christensen, and Dan Christensen. A visitation was held Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon.
Valeria Marian Dreher, daughter of Anton and Clara (Mersman) Stoberl, was born April 28, 1919, at her parent's home in Arcadia, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at the Catholic Church. At the age of 2 she moved with her family to a farm east of Manning. She attended rural school Ewoldt No. 6 near her home through 8th grade. She then helped at home and later worked for neighbors. During World War II she worked at Priebe and Son's Produce in Manning where they broke eggs used to make powered eggs until 1947.
Valeria was united in marriage on January 5, 1948 to Louis Dreher in Sioux City, Iowa. One son, Ron was born to this union. They helped operate Louis' family farm north of Audubon which they later purchased. They raised grain and purebred hogs for many years. Valeria helped on the farm and also was employed at the Friendship Home in Audubon part-time in the laundry. She worked at the canning factory and also worked for Cam Ross Signs. Valerie enjoyed gardening, especially flowers and houseplants.
She enjoyed her home until she moved to the Friendship Home in June of 2007.
She was an active member in the St. John's Lutheran Church in Audubon. Valeria and Louis enjoyed going to household sales. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and cooking.
Valeria died August 8, 2007 at the Audubon county Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 88 years, 3 months, and 10 days.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her brothers and sister: Sophia Heckenlible, Rueben Stoberl, Leonard Stoberl; her brother-in-law Raymon Dreher and her sister-in-law Dorothy Hansen.
Survivors include her husband Louis W. Dreher of Audubon; her son Ron and wife Becky Dreher of Adair; her grandchildren: Randy and Crystal Dreher of Anita; Emily Dreher of Des Moines; Dan Dreher of Ames; her brothers and sister: Irene and Herman Meislahn of Gray; Lyle and Mary Stoberl of Stuart; Norbert and Virginia Stoberl of Manning; her sisters-in-law: Margaret Stoberl, Arlene and husband Howard Gregersen, Mildred Dreher, all of Audubon; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa was in charge of arrangements.
