Rev. Thompson is Summoned
The Rev. Alexander Wilson Thompson, former pastor of Etiwanda Congregational Church and father of Lily (Mrs. Harry W.) Hawkinson of the Chaffer High School faculty, died today, May 3, 1940, at his home in La Mesa, California, at the age of 90 years.

Although retired for several years, the Rev. Mr. Thompson held the Etiwanda pastorate for seven years some time ago.

Son of Robert and Lily (Cowden) Thompson, he was born December 1, 1848, in Ohio.

Rev. Thompson was a Congregational minister who later became a Presbyterian minister on April 24, 1885, by the Presbytery of Fort Dodge, Iowa, from the Congregational Association of Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was the pastor of the Presbyterian Churches in Manning and Fairview, Iowa (1885-1888), and then he was transferred to the Presbytery of Los Angeles.

Beside the daughter here, he is survived by his widow, Sarah.

Funeral services are to be conducted Sunday, 3 p.m. at the Etiwanda Church. Slated to officiate are the Rev. J.H. Mallows, its present pastor; the Rev. Rex E. Lawhead, pastor of the Upland Presbyterian Church, and the Rev. Charles L. Knight, pastor of Bethel Congregational Church. Interment will be in San Jacinto Valley Cemetery, San Jacinto, California.
