Last Rites Held For
Mrs. Jasper Schroeder Tuesday
A kind and loving mother was laid to rest this week when last rites were held
for Mrs. Jasper Schoeder, well known resident of this community for a number of years.
Services were held at the Ohde Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon with Rev. Otte of Mapleton officiating. Interment
was in the Manning Cemetery.
Alvine Sievers was born on June 26, 1873 in Bunsoh, Holstein, Germany. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She came to America and made her home in Manning where she found employment until the time of her marriage to Jasper Schroeder which took place on March 9, 1893.
Seven children were born to this union, two of them, Mrs. Anna Tank, and Mrs. Laura Musfeldt preceding their mother in death; Anna in 1932, and Laura in 1934. Mr. Schroeder passed away on June 28th, 1933. The following children survive: John; Ida, Mrs. Henry Joens; Anita, Mrs. Alfred Nulle; Julius; and Edna, Mrs. William Vollstedt Jr. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, a brother Herman of Nebraska, and a brother and sister in Germany, besides many other relatives and friends.
The Schroeder family always enjoyed the respect and good will of all who knew them. They resided on their farm in Washington Township from the time of their marriage until 1962 when they moved to Manning residing on Second Street.
Thus on July 2nd, 1938 a faithful wife and mother is reunited with those who have gone before into the House of Many Mansions at the age of 65 years and 6 days. She had been in failing health for several months.
Mrs. Schroeder was a member of the Legion Auxiliary which organization attended the services in a body as a
tribute to their departed member.
Acting as pallbearers were Ed Wiese, Lester Rowedder, H. A. Boysen, J. E. Reetz, Herbert Hinz, and Fred
Petersen.
Out of town relatives and friends attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Herman Sievers of Laural, Nebraska; Hans Voss of Ponca, Nebraska; Mrs. Chris Frerk of Slayton, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. John Heesch and Will Heesch of Pipestone, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Jurgensen of Fahrnamville, Iowa; Mr. August Rohwer and daughters of Westside.
