Mrs. Anna (Neethan) Volquartsen of Manning died at 8:30 Tuesday evening at the St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll at the age of fifty-nine years.
The body is at the Ohde Funeral Home, awaiting completion of funeral arrangements.

Last Rites Held For Mrs. Anna Volquartsen, 60
Mrs. Anna Volquartsen, 60, passed away at the St. Anthony Hospital at Carroll,
Iowa, on Tuesday, December 15, 1942. She had been taken suddenly ill the
Saturday before and was immediately taken to the Carroll Hospital.
She was born March 10, 1882, Anna Neethan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hans Neethan. When two years old she came with her family to Crawford County. She spent the greater share of her life on a farm near Dow City, moving to Manning ten years ago.
She was married January 22, 1900, to Bernard Volquartsen at Denison.
Mr. Volquartsen was killed March 23, 1920, in a storm, which frightened his horses, causing him to be thrown from his farm wagon in front of his home as he was returning from town with a load of lumber.
Funeral services were held in the Ohde Funeral Home at 1:30 on Friday, December 18, and in the Latter Day Saint's Church in Dow City at 2:30. The Rev. Alvin Baughman conducted the final rites. Burial was in Dow City beside her husband.
Neighbors of Mrs. Volquartsen in Dow city acted as casket bearers. They were Ward and Lloyd Keairnes, George Ruel, Ward and Claude McDonald, and William Turner.
The following children mourn the loss of their mother: Mrs. Lou Hammer (Hilda), Manning; Emma Cramer, Manning; Mrs. Cecil Clothier (Ella), Manning; Henry Volquartsen, Dunlap; Mrs., Emil Jansen (Ann), Manning; Carl Volquartsen, Omaha, Paul Volquartsen, Manning, and Bill, in the U.S. Armed Forces, stationed on an island in the Caribbean Sea. There are also fifteen grandchildren.
Three children passed away in infancy.
The following brothers and sisters survive: Mrs. John Thompsen (Elizabeth), Dow City; Mrs. Arthur Wright (Mary), Dow City; Ernest Neethan, Dow City; Mrs. Emma Prime, Joplin, Missouri.
