Arnold H. Sanders Buys Manning Monitor
An agreement was made the past week between Rix Brothers, publishers of the Manning Monitor, and Arnold H. Sanders of Denison, for the sale of the Monitor Publishing Company to Mr. Sanders. Possession will be given sometime this month.
The Rix family has been associated with the publishing business since 1907 when Peter Rix purchased Der Manning Herald. In 1909, Paul F. Werner was taken in as partner and in 1910, Mr. Rix sold his interest in the Manning Herald to Werner and Hasselman. In 1919, Mr. Rix purchased the Manning Monitor from Frank Mantz and consolidated with Mr. Werner to publish the Monitor under the firm name of Rix and Werner, suspending publication of the Herald.
In 1923, Ted Rix became associated with the firm and in 1928 Arthur Rix entered the business. Mr. Werner sold his interest in 1930 and in 1932 the firm became known as Rix Brothers, publishers.
Mr. Sanders has been with the Denison Bulletin for 14 years, the last seven as editor. He served his apprenticeship with the Denison Review for three years. He then attended the University of Iowa and returned to Denison to join the Bulletin staff. Mrs. Sanders, a graduate of Iowa State College in home economics and mathematics, has been teaching in Denison and will join the local school staff next fall.
