Arthur H. Polzin
Arthur H. Polzin, 78, of 1100 Plaza Avenue, Napa, died Monday, May 22, 1978, at Queen of the Valley Hospital following a short illness.

He was born January 18, 1900, in Gray, Iowa, to Frederick and Sophia (Ketelsen) Polzin. He grew up and attended schools in Iowa.

Mr. Polzin married the former Helen Anna Dittmer in Napa in 1922.

He was employed at Mare Island Naval Shipyard as an electrician for over 31 years.

He retired in 1960, after which he and his wife moved to Big Sur for two years. He worked as an aide with the California State Parks department there, then returned to Napa.

Mr. Polzin was a 50-year member of the Napa Grange No. 307 and of the Odd Fellows Lodge No. 18. He belonged to the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer.

His wife, Helen, preceded him in death in 1964.

He is survived by two sons, Donald A. Polzin of Napa and David N. Polzin of Everett, Washington, two brothers, Frederick C. and Victor E. Polzin, both of Napa, four sisters: Bertha A. Cearley and Clara M. Wright, both Napans; Irene L. Hosman of Fall River Mills, and Ruth M. Dunker of Cordelia.

Thirteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends are invited to attend the funeral at 11 a.m. Thursday at Treadway & Wigger Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Leon L. Bauer of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer officiating at services.

Interment at Rockville Cemetery, Solano County, Fairfield, California, will follow.

Pallbearers are: Ron Polzin, Steven Burns, Jerry Smith, Ronald Smith, John Beall, and Dale Harper.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
