Mrs. Bertha McClatchy Funeral services were held Tuesday at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Bonesteel, South Dakota, for Mrs. Bertha McClatchy, 83, who died Saturday, April 12, 1975, at a Gregory hospital.

Burial was in Dallas Hillview Cemetery, Dallas, South Dakota.

Bertha Sporwein was born November 25, 1891, at Nuremberg, Germany, daughter of Frederick W. and Wilhelmine (Brost) Sporwien.

She moved with her family to Manning, Iowa, when she was a year old.

In 1909, the family homesteaded near Dallas, South Dakota. She was married to George McKenna in 1912. After his death she moved to Bonesteel area and was employed at the Mulehead Ranch. On February 28, 1925, she was married to Thomas McClatchy. He died in 1970.

Survivors include two sons, George McKenna, South Bend, Indiana; and Raymond McKenna, Concordia, Kansas; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and a sister, Laura Elshire, Pasco, Washington.
