Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Vehrs, 83, were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning. Rev. J.A. Lippincott of the Manning Methodist Church was in charge and burial was in the Manning Cemetery.
Mrs. Vehrs died Wednesday, January 23 at her home, of a heart ailment.
Born April 29, 1874, in Clinton County, Iowa she was married to Gustaf Vehrs of Manning in 1895. The couple had 13 children. They farmed until 1936, when they retired and moved to Manning. Mr. Vehrs died in 1940.
Survivors include five children: Mrs. Margaret Wegner, Manning; Mrs. Verna Ziccardi, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Mrs. Henry Jensen, Gray: Mrs. Louie Miller, Denison; and Harold Vehrs, Manning; 20 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harvey Opperman, Virgil, South Dakota, and Albert Opperman, Le Suer, Minnesota.
Mrs. Anna Farley, Mrs. William Hansen, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Behrend, Ted and Lyle Vollstedt and Mrs. Dean Ellison and daughter Karla of Logan, attended the services.
Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery, with grandsons as pallbearers.
